In the center of Athens, at Syntagma square, there lies Amazon Hotel with a unique view to the Acropolis and Lycabettus.
In that area will find the most famous shops, while you can walk through scenic Plaka (Ancient town), with its tradition, houses, scenic alleys, taverns and popular art shops. Many of the streets today are turned into pedestrian zones and form a quiet area with cafes and restaurants where Athenians usually relax after shopping.
Within 15 minutes walk you may arrive to the Acropolis and its museum, while you may use the Athens metro to go to the National Museum or to other parts of the city.

Syntagma square is one of the two main squares of the capital (the other one is Omonia square). Here lies the Greek Parliament. From this point, the most central roads of Athens begin (Amalias, Vasilisis Sofias, Panepistimiou, Stadiou, Ermou, Mitropoleos ect). Here, you may visit the National Garden, Zappeio, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens etc. It is the starting-point for citizens and tourists moving to many parts of the capital city.
The square has been renovated many times. Recently, due to metro works, it had become an endless worksite. Today, it is one of the busiest and undoubtedly one of the finest stations as it is decorated with works of famous Greek artists.
Plaka is the most scenic and ancient district of Athens. It is town within the city, with labyrinthine tiled alleys which take visitors to passed times. There, you will find the Ancient Market, the Temple of Hephaestus, known as Thisseio, and the Tower of Winds. One of the most scenic wards of Plaka is Anafiotika, under the holy rock of Acropolis, which looks like a miniature of a Cycladic settlement. Recently, many theaters have been constructed in that area, where famous Greek actors give remarkable performances.
